Beginnings ~ Lines Can Tell a Story

Dancing, Singing, Soft and Hard.,..Lines Have Lots to Say.

"My granddaughter very much enjoyed this lesson and it was so easy for ME. All I had to do was put out the materials and then we could play together. The demonstrations were great and the visuals inspiring. Though she is already drawing some, she still picked up on several techniques, like using the sides of the pencils and markers, etc. She hushed me when you mentioned going on a visual "treasure hunt", didn't want to miss that! These lessons would make great gift ideas or activities for visiting children. And I like that we can still go back and create several more artworks from the ideas offered." ~ Terry Mick

Welcome to A Joyful Mark, and online art studio for children!

Children's art begins with lines; first scribbles, then lines that form figures and objects. With a little encouragement and inspiration we learn to look at the world in new ways. We'll explore using pencils, crayons and markers in new ways, creating different kinds of lines. God's design will be our inspiration through a variety of prompts such as natural objects, Bible stories, songs and poems. At the end of this course the child will have gained new ways of expressing themselves through art.

Learning through playful exploration is what we always do here, focusing on the process of discovery more than a product. Enjoy making joyful marks!

Hope you enjoy and come back for more rich art experiences! More art courses for children coming soon!

Jesus follower, mom, wife, nonnie, sister, artist and teacher... I love color, texture, painting, drawing, weaving & mixed media fiber art. Creating art to shine Jesus' light and nurturing creativity in children both bring me great joy!

The name A Joyful Mark was inspired by Psalm 100:1, "Make a joyful noise to the LORD all the earth!" and Philippians 4:4, "Rejoice in the Lord always...". My mission is to reflect the joy of the Lord in my art and nurture creativity in children, through an inspiring online art studio designed to spark a child's imagination and faith.

I've always been passionate about inspiring creativity in young children. I dreamed as a college student about creating an art studio where children could be free to explore art media and techniques and learn to express themselves in a stimulating and encouraging environment. That dream came true as I opened my art studio to children of all ages for over 25 years.

I've taught art in a variety of settings; my art studio, public school, community college and summer art camp. Twelve years ago I felt God calling me to work in an international ministry which took me away from teaching for a season to serve children living in extreme poverty. I've learned priceless things meeting children from countries I never dreamed of seeing. My passion to nurture a child's creativity grew in my travels as I was reminded again and again that all children, from every place on earth, are born with creative spirits and love expressing themselves through the arts.

Thanks for the opportunity to join you in keeping your child's creative spirit thriving!

Blessings and Joy!
