"I was so lucky to have Carol as my art teacher for nearly my entire childhood! She is quite simply the quintessential art teacher: encouraging, kind, patient, creative and fun. Carol introduced us to all kinds of artistic practices from paper-making to jewelry making, acrylics and oil painting. We learned how to wield a palette knife and clean our brushes. She gave me a foundation in Art History, introducing us to artists like Georgia O’Keeffe and Andy Goldsworthy. In college I studied graphic design directly as a result of my appreciation for art that Carol instilled. Today I am a practicing graphic designer and teacher in large part because of the example set by mentors like Carol." ~ Melissa Delzio
God's design, creative spirits and joyful marks are what you'll find in this art studio for children. I believe that God designed each child with a creative spirit. Art experiences nurture this creative spirit and inspire a child to see God's awesome creation in new ways, with their artist's eyes. Art teaches a child to think creatively, explore ideas, make discoveries, express themselves and so much more!

Jesus follower, mom, wife, nonnie, sister, artist and teacher... I love color, texture, painting, drawing, weaving & mixed media fiber art. Creating art to shine Jesus' light and nurturing creativity in children both bring me great joy!
The name A Joyful Mark was inspired by Psalm 100:1, "Make a joyful noise to the LORD all the earth!" and Philippians 4:4, "Rejoice in the Lord always...". My mission is to reflect the joy of the Lord in my art and nurture creativity in children, through an inspiring online art studio designed to spark a child's imagination and faith.
I've always been passionate about inspiring creativity in young children. I dreamed as a college student about creating an art studio where children could be free to explore art media and techniques and learn to express themselves in a stimulating and encouraging environment. That dream came true as I opened my art studio to children of all ages for over 25 years.
I've taught art in a variety of settings; my art studio, public school, community college and summer art camp. Twelve years ago I felt God calling me to work in an international ministry which took me away from teaching for a season to serve children living in extreme poverty. I've learned priceless things meeting children from countries I never dreamed of seeing. My passion to nurture a child's creativity grew in my travels as I was reminded again and again that all children, from every place on earth, are born with creative spirits and love expressing themselves through the arts.
Thanks for the opportunity to join you in keeping your child's creative spirit thriving!
